Didier Deschamps will leave his position as coach of the team in 2026 and a list of names who could succeed him is already circulating in the media. Bruno Genesio, current coach of LOSC, is one of the contenders mentioned.

Didier Deschamps, appointed in 2012 after the Euro to succeed Laurent Blanc, will leave his position at the head of the French team in 2026. He officially announced his departure this Wednesday, during an interview recorded and broadcast on the television news of TF1 at 1 p.m.:
“I'm not here to make an announcement but it will be 2026. I've been here since 2012, I'm scheduled until 2026, the next World Cup. It will stop there because it has to stop there at some point. In my head, it’s very clear”he confided, to cite only this brief passage. His mandate will therefore end, if the Blues qualify, at the end of the 2026 World Cup which takes place in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Since then, the topics, strong opinions and speculations have continued, particularly regarding the identity of his successor. Several names are mentioned, including that of Zinedine Zidane. The former playmaker has never hidden his “desire” to become coach of the Blues and seems to be the ideal man in everyone's eyes: “Of course we all hope that it will be him after 2026”also launched Christophe Dugarry on the radio waves
RMC this Wednesday, when the first rumors had just leaked into the media.

Big favorite, Zinedine Zidane is however not the only name put forward by all the French media. Thierry Henry, coach of the France Espoirs team, appears to be a potential candidate, as do Christophe Galtier, Rudi Garcia and Hervé Renard, three former leaders of the LOSC side. They are not the only ones, since the name of Bruno Genesio, who has led the Mastiffs since last summer, is also mentioned by
The Team and RMC Sport. Franck Haise is added to this list. The coming weeks promise to be particularly long, but the Mastiffs are popular. Here is the only certainty more than a year before the passing of the torch.
