TikTok: the boss promises to do everything to guarantee its development
In response to the US Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the ban on TikTok, Shou Zi Chew, the company’s CEO, promised on Friday January 17 that “We will do everything in our power to ensure that our platform continues to grow for years to come.”

In a video lasting about a minute and a half, titled “Our Response to the Supreme Court’s Decision,” Shou Zi Chew discussed the Supreme Court’s decision and how it will affect more than 170 million people. American users.
He also noted that the company and its users “fought to protect the constitutional right to free speech for more than 170 million Americans” who use this popular platform every day.
The TikTok CEO then recalled US President-elect Donald Trump’s commitment to working with the platform to find a solution that keeps the application available in the United States.

Earlier on Friday (January 17), the US Supreme Court upheld a law requiring TikTok to be sold to a US company or the popular app would face a ban on Sunday, the day before Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Millions of people flocked to pay tribute to TikTok after Shou Zi Chew’s video was posted online, and tens of thousands left comments, many of them showing their support for the company.
In April 2024, US President Joe Biden signed into law giving Bytedance, TikTok’s parent company, just 270 days to sell the platform, citing unfounded national security concerns. Otherwise, the same law will force App Store operators such as Apple and Google to remove TikTok from their platforms as of January 19, 2025.
