At the microphone of RMC Sport, the general director of AS Monaco Thiago Scuro explained the reasons for the extension of Adi Hütter and the Monegasque ambitions during the winter transfer window.
Thiago Scuro, why did you extend Adi Hütter for two years?
I have a very positive feeling, one of our challenges when we arrived eighteen months ago was to provide stability, before there were a lot of changes and we know that it is hard to be consistent in this case. It’s a very important piece and we are happy that he accepted. Other clubs were in contact and spoke to him and so we are very happy to continue this project with him.

What are your expectations for this Champions Trophy?
We are waiting to learn from our mistakes in December in the big matches. We played equal two weeks ago against Paris, we led and we could have managed better mentally. So we are waiting to have a good match to win a trophy for Monaco. We can beat them, we have the quality, a project – like them -, we know that it's a big match but a big match with two big teams.
Would it be special to beat them here in Qatar?
It can be special for us to beat the defending champion, no matter who it is or where. Being here is special for French football, to promote our brands and all of French football. We are very proud to play the super cup here and promote football.
The names of Manfred Ugalde and Mika Biereth return to arrive this winter. What can we say about them?
We can't say anything about them (smile). We are working, we all know that the striker is one of our needs, particularly because of the Balogun injury who we will miss. We hope to have solutions as quickly as possible because we have a big schedule over the next two months. It's important to give Adi options.
Should we expect arrivals soon?
We always want it to be as quick as possible, but we also have to be responsible, do things in order. In winter, a lot of clubs overpay and that's not our way, we want to be smart. It can be a loan or not, a short or long term solution. The first criterion is the ability to perform.
