At the end of his contract in six months, Jonathan David could be free to leave LOSC without receiving any compensation. It doesn't matter for Lille supporters, who place his exploits higher than anything.
Uncertain contractual situation, or not, Jonathan David is having yet another brilliant season in the Lille ranks. Under the LOSC banner, he has scored 17 goals and delivered 5 assists over the last six months, a total which has made him one of the most decisive players for the year 2024. The Canadian is thus increasingly registering his name in the history of LOSC, in which he is already the third top scorer.
Could this historic, legendary stature fade in the coming weeks, depending on a free departure next June? This is the question that Lille supporters have answered in recent days and the result is rather negative. More than 700 participants, or 72% of voters, said that farewells without transfer compensation would change absolutely nothing. Jonathan David would have contributed enough to the growth of LOSC to pursue his personal ambitions elsewhere. Conversely, 25% of voters have a contradictory opinion, annoyed by this potential purpose.

“He respected the club until the end”LOSC supporters widely commented on social networks, without a total consensus being found. Julien, for his part, is one of the more divided Lille residents: “What would bother me more than a free departure is his destination. Leave Lille, why not, but to go where? If it's to be satisfied with a substitute role in a top club or to play in the Conference League in Germany, that would bother me.”he explains.
But this sound of bell is not the one reported by the majority, which already places it among the legends among the Mastiffs:
“He has very largely honored his contract and what he has brought to LOSC goes far beyond the financial aspect. What he did is fantastic. Whatever happens, his exploits will remain engraved in our memories in the same way as those of Eden Hazard”launched, in unison, Fabien and Emmanuel.
