Thibaut Courtois wants to return to the selection

Sparkling with Real Madrid, with whom he notably won a new Champions League last season, Thibaut Courtois has however not worn the Belgian selection jersey since June 2023. The reason? A dispute between the goalkeeper and the coach, Domenico Tedesco, over the armband. In the absence of Kevin de Bruyne, the Italian preferred to name Romelu Lukaku captain of his team. Since then, the goalkeeper and the former Leipzig coach have responded to each other through the media. However, this is not enough to harm the 32-year-old's desire to one day wear his country's jersey again.

Interviewed by CNN on the occasion of the Globe Soccer Awards, Thibaut Courtois explained that he would like to play again with Belgium: “I always feel proud to play for my country. Obviously, the team has also evolved, and I don't know what will happen in the coming months or years. I obviously hope to play another match, say a proper goodbye or play again. I would like to play in the World Cup… but we will see what happens. It's not that simple.»
