Great at the start of the season, the Greens hold their place in D1

After remaining in the Arkema Premier League, which was achieved with flying colors last season, thanks in particular to a very serious second half of the season, the Greens did not want to get caught up this season. The objective remained the same at the dawn of this new exercise, that of remaining in the elite of French women's football. Nevertheless, the exceptional start to the season made by the Greens almost cast doubt among the various observers of Laurent Mortel's players: what if the Stéphanoises could join the race for the play-offs?

Indeed, after two away victories in (1-2) and (1-2), the Vertes welcomed their first big team in this Arkema Premier League championship at the beginning of last October: FC. The players of Laurent Mortel create a sensation by setting a goal to zero thanks to Cindy Caputo. They therefore remain among the best teams in the championship after three days. However, it is against teams supposedly more accessible that the Greens will fall into line. First heavily against (5-1 defeat), then and (2-0 defeats). Back in the middle of the table, the Greens are therefore recalled by their primary objective: maintenance. They take two new steps towards it by having Fleury (3-1) and Guingamp (2-0). On the other hand, they are humiliated in (11-0), a score testifying to the still abysmal gap within this French women's championship. The defeat against PSG in the Cauldron a little less than a month later allowed the Vertes to show a much better face against one of the big teams from Arkema Premier League (0-3).

The results are satisfactory for the players of Laurent Mortel who are currently ranked seventh with 15 points on the clock. They are eight points ahead of the relegation places and five behind the play-offs and Dijon.

The defense, marked by the eleven goals conceded in Lyon, is the second worst in the championship while the attack is the eighth in Arkema Premier League. It is Cindy Caputo who is ASSE's most decisive player with three goals scored and two assists distributed, she who experienced the French A Team for the first time in her career this year, being decisive with an assist to her former teammate Gago, scorer.

Difficult to aim for the play-offs for Laurent Mortel's players whose squad seems to be too tight for the top of the table. Unless the winter transfer window passes by and the Greens begin to string together very high-level performances as was the case at the start of the season.
