The action quickly gives way to reaction in Germany where Andrej Ilic, loaned by LOSC to Union Berlin, can welcome Steffen Baumgart, new technician in the capital.

Without a leader following the dismissal of Bo Svensson, Union Berlin quickly reacted by naming, as of Monday, the identity of its new technician. This one is none other than Steffen Baumgart (52 years old), spent with the Berlin club when he was a player from 2002 to 2004 and free from any contract since his departure from Hamburg last November. The technician set down his bags in the capital alongside his own technical staff with the objective of relaunching a team which is placed in twelfth position (7 points ahead of the red zone) at the end of the first fifteen days championship.

“We chose Steffen Baumgart because we are convinced that he is the right type of coach for us. His way of leading a team, promoting and challenging players was an important aspect of our decision. Additionally, he has experience in the Bundesliga and knows the Union very well. He is a coach who does not need a long adaptation time and who can quickly give clear direction to a team.said Horst Heldt, general manager, in a statement released by the club. It remains to be seen whether this arrival will benefit departing Andrej Ilic.

The Union Berlin players will get to know their new strongman from Thursday January 2, the date on which the resumption of training has been scheduled. With time running out, a friendly match is already planned with the reception of Holstein Kiel, a team fighting to remain in the Bundesliga.
