RC Lens has made some disappointing news official: its young striker Rémy Labeau-Lascary, aged 21, is the victim of a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
This injury, which occurred on December 14 during the draw against Auxerre (2-2) in Ligue 1, prematurely ended the player's 2024-2025 season. Successfully operated on this Friday at the Jean-Mermoz private hospital in Lyon by Doctor Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet, specialist in ligament injuries, Labeau-Lascary is now beginning a long rehabilitation process. This will be supervised by the club's medical services, with the aim of allowing the attacker to return to full possession of his means for the next season. He will not be able to return to competition for many months.
Lens wants to recruit offensive reinforcement
This injury is a hard blow for Labeau-Lascary, who showed encouraging progress this season and established himself as a promising option in the Lens attack. For RC Lens, this absence prolongs the offensive difficulties in a sector already weakened by the injuries of Martin Satriano and the recurring physical problems of Wesley Saïd. The loss of Labeau-Lascary accentuates the need for the club to strengthen itself during the winter transfer window in order to preserve its ambitions in Ligue 1.
With this new absence, the club will have to adapt its priorities and explore the options available to fill the void left by its young striker on the transfer market. Sports director Diego Lopez and the coach will be tasked with finding a striker capable of integrating quickly and making an immediate impact on the team. It will be necessary to quickly find offensive reinforcement. Lensois leaders will first try to sell a few items in order to free up cash to invest in recruitment.
