Luis Enrique is clearly not on the same level as Ousmane Dembélé. Last Sunday, the PSG striker teased an imminent return of Presnel Kimpembe with the first team. But the reality is quite different according to the comments made by the Paris Saint-Germain coach to journalists this Tuesday.
Presnel Kimpembe is one of the most prominent Parisian titis of the QSI era. The 2018 world champion was fully established alongside Marquinhos after the departure of Thiago Silva in 2020. However, the 29-year-old central defender has not been spared his Achilles tendon since the end of 2022 with a first injury which led to a second in February 2023. Since then, Kimpembe was on the operating table twice.
“His return? I have no idea”
Back to training, Presnel Kimpembe never found a match sheet from PSG lately. But Ousmane Dembélé does not lose hope and sent this strong message Sunday evening after the Parisian victory againstOL (3-1).
“Presko is fine. We hope he will play against Monaco. If it’s not Monaco, against Lens. Or else in 2025.” Luis Enrique however, do not share the same opinion at all. “His return? I have no idea. It’s a very different case, it’s been two years since he played continuously. There were two different injury relapses.”
“It would be very risky to speed up the process”
In a press conference relayed by RMC Sportthe PSG coach also assured that he would not take unnecessary risks with Presnel Kimpembe for his return to competition. “It would be very risky to speed up the process. Training and workload will indicate its progress. It’s more physical than medical. But I don’t know when he will be fully competitive.”
