Transferred to OM in January 2024, the former Nantes player had not yet deployed the full range of his possibilities, to the point of being overtaken by the Swiss Ulisses Garcia – against Lens (3-1) and Monaco (2 -1) – after a catastrophic performance against AJ Auxerre (1-3). But, against LOSC (1-1), this Saturday, the left side distinguished himself by scoring a goal full of composure, after a brilliant collective action.
According to ProvenceQuentin Merlin's performance did not go unnoticed, and from now on, the player is followed by the staff of the France team. On the left, among the Blues, the competition is embodied in Théo Hernandez (AC Milan), Lucas Digne (Aston Villa) or even Ferland Mendy (Real Madrid), but the first has sporting and extra-sporting problems, and could possibly leave his place at number 3 of OM in the future.
Didier Deschamps' next list will be for March 2025. The Phocaean will need to confirm by then, to hope to join the Blues group. It's not a sure thing, but it's not impossible.
