A true center forward, very athletic, Edouard Kargu was powerful and realistic. His lack of speed did not prevent him from being a terror to opposing goalkeepers. He did not hesitate to strike from afar and often opened up encounters. He also excelled in heading. As he got older, he added a string to his bow by gaining in playing intelligence. On the other hand, he lacked speed.

In history

By finishing as top scorer in the First Division with 27 goals scored, Edouard Kargu still remains the Bordeaux record holder over a season to this day.

During this 1953-1954 season, the Girondins finished 3rd in the championship, just one point behind champion .

Despite the presence under the Bordeaux jersey of leading goal hunters, neither Pauleta (22 buts),

On the other hand, the Aigle des Açores is ahead of its prestigious predecessor in the number of goals scored in all competitions. In 2001-2002, the Portuguese put the ball in the back of the net 35 times while Kargu reached the total of 30 goals during the 1953-1954 season.

  • Bernard Baudet 16/12/1939-30/03/2017, defensive midfielder, at the club between 1959 and 1969, 260 matches and 30 goals

A man protected by his various coaches, he could play with equal success in defense (on the right or left) or in a defensive midfielder position. His committed play quickly gave him the reputation of a rough player, hard on man. An impeccable professional, a remarkable athlete, he had an explosive temperament on the field. It lacked liveliness and struggled to start. He also had a tendency to gain weight.

A figure in southern Girondin football, Bernard Baudet joined the ranks of the Girondins in 1959. His first season was catastrophic on a collective level since Camille's men Libra barely rising in D1 fell in D2 with a very permeable defense (102 goals conceded).

After a stint with the Algerian club ROP Constantine in 1961, he established himself on his return as one of the trusted players of Bordeaux coach Salvador Artigas to the point of becoming one of the pillars of a navy and white team always placed, never winning (3 times vice-champions, 3 Coupe de France finals), during the 60s.

With the arrival of Bakrim on the bench, he gave another dimension to his technical register, now being able to participate in the construction of the game. In 1969, after another disappointment in the final of the Coupe de France, he left Bordeaux to join Boulogne-sur-Mer . He ended his career with an experience at Châteauroux before joining the amateur club Orthez to take up the position of player-coach.

Once retrained as manager of an express transport company in the Basque Country, a great fan of car racing, now retired, he took part in amateur rallies as a co-driver. But his passion for speed was fatal to him… Responsible for a deadly accident in Lacanau in 1991, he himself was killed on the road a few years later, in Ain.

A disciple of René Gallice

Born in the Landes de Gascogne, Bernard Baudet started playing football in Aillas, before joining AS Gironde. Within this club, he apprenticed under the direction of the man who would become his mentor and friend, René in French.

The former great Girondins player had in fact joined this small club at the end of his professional career to take over its destiny. By training this future Bordeaux player, he made him work on his physical condition and consistency over 90 minutes.
