In After Foot this Wednesday on RMCPhilippe Diallo spoke about the future of Didier Deschamps but also the Zinedine Zidane track.

Coach of the French team since 2012, Didier Deschamps has enjoyed great longevity within the national team, with a good record (winner and finalist of the World Cup, finalist of Euro 2016, winner of the 2021 Nations League ). Despite everything, the criticism surrounding the proposed game has never been as strong as in recent months, and many French supporters dream of seeing Zinedine Zidane take the helm of this EDF. Under contract until July 2026, Deschamps was reassured by Philippe Diallo, president of the FFF and guest of After Foot this Wednesday on RMC.

“I arrived in January 2023 with Didier Deschamps who had just renewed his contract for four years (until 2026). I respect this contract. He fulfilled the objectives designated by the FFF. Would it cost a lot to break your contract? This is obviously one aspect. But the first aspect is that I asked Didier Deschamps to go to the semi-final of the Euro. He did it. We all want to dream and have emotions while watching the matches. Remember the incredible final of 2022. Didier Deschamps was the coach,” he recalled.

“I’m not in denial”

“You know, I love football, we all have great footballers in mind, I am sensitive to the way of playing. But what I notice despite everything is that in talking with my fellow presidents of European and world federations, many dream of being in my place. Our national team goes to the World Cup final, makes the Euro semi-finals and wins titles. It’s envied all over the world,” assured Diallo, who ended up mentioning the name of Zinedine Zidane.

“I'd be lying if I said no one told me that. I'm not in denial. I go into the field, I hear people, I listen to you and I know there is a demand. I am not autistic at all,” said the president of the FFF. Didier Deschamps' next big challenge will be to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, and to perform well there. Otherwise, it remains to be seen whether the door will be open for Zizou…
