On Forever and the show “Coups Francs”, the journalist Julien Bée mentioned the Girondins de Bordeaux group, and what emerges from it, which is diametrically opposed to the criticism that other clubs can make.
“We hear a lot of things about our club, there are often opposing teams who talk to us about the Girondins de Bordeaux. What I can attest is that this group has always been respectful of journalists, opposing players or presidents… All those who can have a bit of a strong tongue, to go to the media and take shots at the Girondins de Bordeaux, really don't know what is happening in the collective, in this team, which really shows great values. It’s a respectful team, and one that can have the respect of its opponents.”
Then he adds.
“There are a lot of bad losers already, and it's easy to hit the biggest ones in fact… It also destabilizes. We are not idiots, we have been a professional club for many years, since 1937… So it can be done to destabilize, but I have the impression that Bruno Irles and his staff have succeeded in creating a bubble around the Girondins. He doesn't look at it too much, even if once – and it caught my attention – he really wanted to answer a question about the Châteaubriant coach. But otherwise I find that overall he has rather created a bubble around his team, and so much the better. It's so much easier to hit the big guy, we're going to have to put up with that all season […] You have the amateur world who feels wronged compared to professional clubs. For people in this world, Bordeaux is still a professional club. We are no longer, but for them we are an institution, a professional club. For them, we were not tough enough with the Girondins, that’s what comes out when I speak with them.”
