Under the effect of a depression in the vicinity of the Balearic Islands, the weather is getting bad in the Mediterranean regions. Friday is shaping up to be the coldest day of the week.
This Friday, the Mediterranean regions are particularly affected by a significant rainy episode, while the northern half is experiencing cold and dry weather, under a sky still full of low clouds, announces the Météo Channel*.
Morning: disturbances in the Mediterranean, cold in the northeast
From the morning, the Mediterranean regions experience sustained showers, accompanied by gusts of easterly wind reaching 50 to 60 km/h. Over the south of the Massif Central and the Pyrenees, clouds dominate. In the northwest, low clouds persist. Some clearings are emerging between Burgundy, the east of the Paris Basin, and the Ardennes, while sometimes freezing fogs extend between the Alsace plain and the Val de Saône. Morning temperatures vary between -2°C in Besançon and 11°C in Nice.
Afternoon: Mediterranean rains progress
Mediterranean precipitation progresses towards the Massif Central, the middle Rhône valley and the southern Alps, where snow appears above 1000 meters altitude. Further north, the sky is cloudy from the north of Auvergne to Lyonnais while clearings develop over the west of Burgundy, Île-de-France, Champagne-Ardenne and Hauts-de-France. Despite these improvements, clouds remain dominant in the northwest. Temperatures range between 2°C in Strasbourg and 15°C in Ajaccio.
Evening: precipitation continues in the southeast
In the evening, the south-eastern quarter remains marked by scattered rain which reaches Lyonnais and Limagne. In the rest of the territory, the weather is cold and dry. Temperatures drop quickly, especially in open areas. At 9 p.m., they vary between -1°C in Charleville-Mézières and 11°C in Marseille.
Trend for the weekend: grayness and winter freshness
The weekend is dominated by clouds over a large part of the country, accompanied by some rain or snowflakes in the mountains. The Mediterranean regions benefit from renewed sunshine, particularly on Sunday, thanks to the mistral and the tramontana. Temperatures remain slightly below seasonal norms.
