In search of a creative and explosive midfielder, PSG is one of the clubs dreaming of snatching Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. But the German club does not intend to give up its playmaker so easily.
PSG transfer window: Big competition for Florian Wirtz
Dazzling in the colors of Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, Florian Wirtz quickly attracted the attention of the biggest European clubs. Among them, Paris Saint-Germain seems particularly interested in young German talent. Last summer, Parisian coach Luis Enrique had already expressed the need to strengthen the team's offensive sector.
If the leads leading to Jadon Sancho, Nico Williams or Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have not been successful, the Spanish technician is keeping a close eye on the market. And Florian Wirtz, author of an exceptional season with Bayer Leverkusen, perfectly matches the desired profile.
Under contract until 2027 with the German club, the attacking midfielder is also closely followed by Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester City and Bayern Munich. Despite multiple requests, Wirtz decided to extend with Leverkusen last summer.
But the situation could change, especially since Real Madrid and Bayern Munich seem determined to have him in their respective squads next season. For its part, the club coached by Xabi Alonzo does not intend to sell off its number 10.
Bayer demands at least €120M for Florian Wirtz
Even if Bayer Leverkusen wishes to extend Florian Wirtz's contract, the German international midfielder would be tempted by a departure in the summer of 2025. As indicated by the newspaper L'Équipe in recent days, the reigning German champion would be ready to let his master play for a check for at least 120 million euros. Currently, only Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have positioned themselves.
Florentino Pérez, the Madrid president, sees Wirtz as a worthy successor to Toni Kroos and would be ready to do what is necessary to have him in his squad next summer. In Bavaria, the recruitment of Wirtz is a top priority. The Bavarian club sees him as Jamal Musiala's ideal partner to form a formidable offensive duo. Paris SG therefore knows what remains to be done in this matter.
