Maupay, in an interview with CFC, discusses the subject in a refreshing way, first returning to the way in which he was defeated after his first Marseille goal against Nice. “When I celebrate, I turn around and show my name because people don't know me, I just arrived, I wanted to make the introductions. But it was the 125th anniversary jersey so there was no name behind it. It even got a little traction on the networks and Twitter so that's good, I like all that. I don't take myself seriously, people can winnow me, I'll miss an opportunity, I'm small, there's no problem. But when you make jokes you have to know how to receive them from the other side too, so that made me laugh. »
Maupay recounts his defeat against OL

I don't see anything wrong with that, I don't think I'm going beyond the limits, it's something that I'm looking for even in my life or on the field. I need to feel like there is a response. People often say to me 'I didn't know you were a nice guy' so that makes me laugh because I don't pay attention to what people think, because in fact they're people I don't know. What interests me is my family, my coach, my teammates, how they see me. If they think I'm super nice, that's what counts. People from the outside, opponents, whether they like me or not, I'm past that stage. It doesn't matter. »
