ASSE: the enormous revelations of Huss Fahmy on the takeover of the Greens

Executive of Kilmer Sports Ventures assigned with Jaeson Rosenfeld to the daily management of ASSE, Huss Fahmy made some strong announcements about the Greens.

Armed arm of Ivan Gazidis on the side of AS Saint-Etienne, Huss Fahmy made some interesting announcements on the takeover of the Greens by Kilmer Sports Ventures this summer. Present in London for a Leaders' conference detailing the “KSV” plan, the Saint-Etienne leader recognized that ASSE was far from being the first club surveyed by the Canadian investment fund:

“We were looking for two and a half years, we analyzed probably 60, 70, 80 clubs in different countries. We were looking for an investment where we could be “active” and there were very few clubs which had in their DNA the capacity to be competitive at a very high level, in a country, which has a large community of supporters, a training center… All the ingredients which, activated together, can allow the club to naturally compete at a very high level. We didn't need to create these ingredients that already existed. After two and a half years, we slowly settled on Saint-Étienne.”

“We are not considering a possible sale”

Regarding the duration of Kilmer Sports Ventures' investment in Forez, Huss Fahmy, however, remains very evasive, simply referring to a multi-phase plan which has only just started:

“We are not thinking about a possible sale, we are developing a club and there are probably five or six phases before reaching the very high level. Each phase will provide us with the opportunity to look at the market, we will always be open minded but I don't think we are working on an 'exit'. We are working on putting our plan in place and seeing how far it can push the club. Sport has the specificity of being uncertain and will give us challenges to take on regularly.”

Ivan Gazidis' right-hand man confirmed that the plan had changed following the return to Ligue 1 which was not initially planned when Kilmer Sports Ventures began discussing with the Romeyer – Caïazzo tandem: “certain elements of our project have had to be accelerated, others had to be slowed down.
