The adventure of Lilian Brassier at Olympique de Marseille could end prematurely. OM management is already considering sending him back to Brest during the winter transfer window.
Mercato OM: Loan termination in sight for Lilian Brassier?
The arrival of Lilian Brassier at Olympique de Marseille this summer had raised a lot of hopes. Building on his remarkable performances at Brest last season, the central defender was presented as one of the most promising recruits of the transfer window. But a few months later, the picture is very different.
A starter at the start of the season at OM, Lilian Brassier quickly lost her place in Roberto De Zerbi's starting lineup. Mixed performances, notably during the defeat against Auxerre (3-1) at the Vélodrome, highlighted his difficulties in adapting to the Marseille game. The Italian technician no longer seems to trust him and a departure from the winter transfer window is mentioned.
Lilian Brassier's loan with compulsory purchase option could be terminated before term. Indeed, according to sources close to the matter, OM would consider sending the player back to Brest in order to avoid paying the 11 million euros planned for his final transfer. Such an operation would nevertheless require an agreement with the Breton club, which had already included this sum in its budget forecasts.
Whatever the case, this turnaround is a hard blow for Lilian Brassier, who chose Marseille this summer to take a step forward in her career. He will have to work hard to regain his best level of play.
