For Radio des Collines, the former defender of the Girondins de Bordeaux, Marius Trésormade the comparison between the Scapular Club that he knew, as well as that of today.
“It saddens me… I knew the Girondins at the top. I arrived in Bordeaux in 1980. I came for a year, and I have been in Bordeaux for 44 years. Although my career began in Ajaccio, then it was Marseille, I came to Bordeaux for a short time and I am still there. It's true that I met some extraordinary boys. During the 82 World Cup, there were six of us representing the Girondins de Bordeaux. We had a goalkeeper who was the goalkeeper of the team, Dragan Pantelic, and we had a central defender, alongside me, who was with Algeria, Nordine Kourichi… On that team, Bordeaux was at the forefront in the French championship. We even had results at the European level. In 85, I had just ended my career, but Bordeaux almost eliminated Juventus in Turin. Unfortunately we lost 3-0 in the first leg, and we only won 2-0 in the second leg. Afterwards, in 96, we eliminated the great AC Milan team in the semi-final… Then, there was the passage with Elie Baup and there again the Girondins were really at the forefront of the French championship…”.
