With an XXL payroll for a National 2 club, the Girondins de Bordeaux are eagerly awaited by the DNCG this Tuesday.
The Girondins de Bordeaux will be heard by the DNCG federal club control commission this Tuesday, November 26. Does the club fear new sanctions? We tried to decipher his situation at the moment. And it is not necessarily very encouraging with a very high payroll and additional costs compared to the job protection plan.
First of all, you need to calculate the current payroll. For the sports component, we were able to consult the 29 federal contracts. In total, we slightly exceed 70,000 euros gross monthly. Six players are at 5,000 euros gross monthly (Louveau, Diallo, Yambéré, Trazié, Mutyaba and Assogba). With the various bonuses revealed by our colleagues from South-West (Trichard, Merdji, Mutyaba, Carroll), we therefore arrive at a payroll estimated at 800,000 euros gross for the season. Counting the victory bonuses on the basis of twenty championship victories, this payroll would thus be 900,000 euros gross, or approximately 1.2 million euros with expenses.
Contracts that question
Contracts also raise many questions. The Girondins de Bordeaux are in an observation period but the judicial administrator and the DNCG validate three-year contracts (Louveau, Diallo, Carroll, Trichard, Mutyaba). These contracts are not countersigned by the judicial administrator. Which could pose problems in the event of liquidation and takeover by the AGS. Contacted, the administrator did not respond to us. Another question, the club had Safouane Karim sign a federal contract (4,350 euros gross monthly). But it was ultimately not registered and the Dutchman signed a free license. Does he have another contract? With this player and Diaw, whose license validation is still pending (1,614.60 euros gross monthly), the payroll could therefore further increase by 60,000 euros gross annually.
Then, we must count Bruno Irles (5,000 euros gross monthly), the staff and the employees who remained at the club. According to our estimates, which remain quite low, there is therefore at least 400,000 euros gross (around 500,000 euros loaded) which are added to the annual payroll. It is also necessary to add the sums due to employees made redundant under the PSE going above the ceilings guaranteed by the AGS. A sum that Gérard Lopez had not budgeted for and which is 3.6 million euros.
A payroll too high for the DNCG?
In total, we find ourselves between 5.3 and 5.6 million euros in total payroll. A question also arises. Are salaries received from July to October by employees made redundant or at the end of their contract at the beginning of November covered? Which would add around 1.5 million euros gross (2 million loaded). This payroll would thus represent almost the entire budget announced by the Girondins de Bordeaux (8 million euros) for the season.

National 2 B. Saint-Malo keeps the lead, La Roche in bad shape
During the autumn hearing, national clubs must present the landing of their 2023-2024 budget. But the DNCG is not going to take care of this point for Bordeaux given that this budget was presented to the pro DNCG and not the federal DNCG. It is therefore the financial elements of the 2024-2025 forecast budget that will be studied. The club must reintegrate the 3.6 million compensation which exceeds the AGS ceiling and which is not covered as part of the recovery.
A significant sum which was not presented by the Girondins during the September hearing where the payroll was regulated. The DNCG will therefore have to judge this Tuesday the sincerity and reliability of the financial data transmitted by Gérard Lopez. The possible sanctions are three or five penalty points in the ranking but also a demotion as a precautionary measure.
