Since Tuesday, OL has not chosen to leave X, but to diversify by joining the trendy network that is Bluesky. A decision to rediscover some of the charm of social networks from before with a community that is still just as active.
Everyone only talks about him. No, it's not about John Textor or Rayan Cherki. The two characters are at the heart of OL news in recent days, but it is the social network Bluesky who monopolizes the discussions at the coffee machine. At a time when Elon Muskofficial support of Donald Trumpis still celebrating the victory of its presidential candidate, its X network is bearing the brunt of the exodus of its users. For what ? Because the restrictions and other fake news ended up making many former users of Twitterthe real one, the one described as the little blue bird.
The butterfly has taken its place, but for the past few days, it has been a real rush Bluesky which took place and theOL inevitably succumbed, like our media Olympique-et-Lyonnais. For what ? Because the club was also nostalgic for years gone by, for this freedom of exchange and freedom that X has lost over the last two years. But it is not a political choice. “We are the first active French club on the networks. We are not the largest in terms of number on X, but we certainly have the most active community where we find humor and seriousness among our followers”we are told internally to explain this choice.
An “imaginative” community manager team in the Lyon ranks
Having created the @ol.fr account on Tuesday, the Lyon club has just over four thousand subscribers, forty-eight hours later. To get started, there were particular exchanges with the account OL+one of the pioneers on this network and who does a daily press review on Lyon news. After understanding the codes of this network, officially launched in 2021, but which has experienced a real explosion in recent days, OL launched 100%, obtaining DNS certification “in order to regain a certain proximity with the supporters.” Still having an active account on XOL has not yet clearly established the strategy that will be used on Bluesky. For now, the content is similar between the two networks, but this should change as the weeks go by.
We saw this with the response given to LOSChumor should logically be there on the account of the Lyon club. A choice that can be explained by a team of community managers “quite imaginative and who questions herself all the time”. It is true that communication in Lyon has made considerable progress in recent months. When it was criticized and mocked, particularly during player presentations, it is today praised by supporters of the club, but also of certain rival clubs… If Bluesky is still far from perfect, “especially on the video”OL still intends to play its pioneering role. It won't fill the financial hole, but it at least allows a little clarity within the OL community in the shady sky that has been hovering over the club for several days…
