A favorite target of Paris Saint-Germain for many weeks, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is at the heart of an ultimatum posed by the management of Napoli.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is under contract until June 2027. A situation which should therefore not worry the SSC Napoli club. However, its management is frightened at the idea of losing one of its best offensive assets. Since his arrival in Campania in the summer of 2022, the Georgian has been splashing Italy, even Europe, with his pure talent. At only 23 years old, he still has some of his potential to develop. His interesting performances caught the eye of recruiters from important clubs on the continent. Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona are in fact in the running to try to offer it at the slightest hint of an open door. For their part, Naples is trying to extend it, but an agreement is currently difficult to find. Enough to force Aurelio De Laurentiis to give him an ultimatum.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, extend or leave!
According to information from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the future of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is now solely in his hands. Naples has done what is necessary on its side within the framework of a contract extension with salary increase. The Georgian would like a salary of 8 million euros net per year, where the Neapolitans “only” offer him 6, bonus included. The player is ready to make an effort in terms of his salary, but one fact is currently causing negotiations to slip.
Indeed, the release clause included in his contract would be the real problem. Aurelio De Laurentiis wants it to be worth at least 120 million euros, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's entourage seeks to get closer to 80. As a result, the Neapolitan management would have taken the lead; either he accepts the proposal or he will be on the transfer market next summer. Also, the contract proposed by Naples would be an extension of 2 additional years, i.e. a renewal of its current lease until 2029, which currently runs until 2027. In any case, PSG must scrutinize close to his situation. As a reminder, the club had apparently reached an agreement with the player last summer, without this leading to a transfer.
