In view of an exciting second half of the season with the final stages of the Champions League and the race for European places in Ligue 1, Stade Brestois wants and needs to strengthen its squad.
If reinforcements in all lines to expand the squad are expected, the central defender position seems to be prioritized by Grégory Lorenzi, who is on Arsenal's shortlist. Indeed, after the recently revealed Chancel Mbemba track, a Nigerien central defender would also be in the sights of SB29.
Oumar Sako in the sights of SB29
According to information from Africa Foot, Brest would be interested in the profile of Oumar Sako. The French team would have set its sights on this player who plays in Rostov, in the Russian first division. Aged 28, he is an indisputable starter for both club and national team with Niger.
He thus played 15 championship matches, out of 15 possible, with Rostov and most of them as a starter and in full. Oumar Sako seems to be ready to experience a new adventure in a club in the five major championships, after having played in Bulgaria, Austria, Qatar and Ivory Coast.
Brest ready to do anything to complete the transfer
“With his experience and his athletic qualities, Sako could bring undeniable added value to the Brest squad. The Breton leaders are ready to do anything to complete this transfer, but will have to convince the Russian leaders to accept their offer”indicates the media specializing in African football.
Note that the potential amount of this transfer remains to be defined, but it could well prove to be a brake on negotiations for Stade Brestois. Under contract until June 2027 with Rostov, Oumar Sako is valued at 2.5 million euros.
Passionate about sport and from Toulouse, I am of course a supporter of the great TFC, which has more titles than OM and OL combined over the last ten years.
