Author of 28 goals and 7 assists in 23 matches, Viktor Gyökeres has no desire to leave Sporting Lisbon in the winter transfer window despite interest from PSG and FC Barcelona.
Viktor Gyökeres has made a name for himself. Already a pest last season, the Swedish striker confirmed his reputation as a serial scorer by compiling no less than 28 goals and 7 assists in 23 matches during the current financial year. And while his now former coach Ruben Amorim has just joined Manchester United, many Red Devils supporters were ecstatic at the idea of seeing the former Sankt Pauli arrive at Old Trafford.
“I want to play the whole season at Sporting”
However, Gyökeres put an end to these rumors this weekend while sending a clear message to his other courtiers like PSG or FC Barcelona: “It is very sad that Amorim is leaving, but obviously we understand his decision. It meant a lot to me, because he gave me the opportunity and made me grow a lot. Follow him to United? He already has several attackers there, so we'll see. But it's not something I think about. Obviously I want to play the whole season with Sporting and I feel good there, so I'm in no rush to move in the future. We'll see when the time comes. »
