Mustafa Denizli, an Ottoman football legend, is seriously concerned about Güler's status within the Merengue club.
307 minutes in 12 games, including only three where he started. This is Arda Güler's meager record at the start of the season at Real Madrid, which continues to cause concern in Türkiye.
The latest to voice his concerns is Turkish football legend (nearly 400 matches between Altay Izmir and Galatasaray, with 124 goals) as well as championship winner as a coach with Turkey's big three, Mustafa Denizli. A voice widely heard in his land which quite simply affirms that the young Güler is not in his place in Madrid.
A converted television commentator, Denizli also criticized Arda's performance during the 0-0 draw between Turkey and Wales. “He showed immaturity in this match,” he said. “It's normal, he's not in the same conditions as before he left for Real Madrid. He doesn't seem happy there,” added Denizli.
While the score was still 0-0 in the 86th minute, Vincenzo Montella decided to replace Arda Güler with Kaan Ayhan. The Italian coach explained at a press conference the reason for this change. “It's not easy to decide to replace him. He's a unique talent. He hadn't had many consistent minutes before this match and I had doubts about his physique,” admitted the coach.
“Kaan's introduction gave us the strength we needed in the middle,” he added, once again referring to the 19-year-old's current club situation.
