Bayern Munich goalkeeper Mala Grohs announces she is suffering from cancer

Aged 23, the German announced on Saturday that she would have to withdraw from football due to a malignant tumor.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Mala Grohs has announced that she is suffering from a malignant tumor. The German player explained, Saturday, November 16, in a video on her club's social networks that she was going to concentrate fully on her convalescence and that she would be absent from the team for an indefinite period. “With the doctors here, I'm in good hands. It's a challenge I never thought I'd have to take on one day. But with everyone's help, I will overcome it, without a doubt“, she told her supporters.

In order to support her in this ordeal, the Bavarian club decided to extend her contract by one year, until June 2026. Herbert Hainer, president of Bayern Munich, sent her a message of support: “In these moments, sport takes a back seat. Our club and the entire FC Bayern family support Mala Grohs. Mala is a wonderful and strong person, she will receive all the help we can give her, all the help she needs to recover.
