For a few months now, and many years after his first selection in 2019 during a friendly match against Mexico, Leonardo Balerdi has been finding a place in the Argentina squad. The central defender and captain of OM has been regularly on the lists since June (except in September), and is grabbing playing time. Around twenty minutes last October 10 during a draw against Venezuela, and new minutes obtained last night during the defeat against Paraguay (1-2).
Balerdi faces heavy criticism
Except that unfortunately, Balerdi had a very complicated match this Thursday evening. Lionel Scaloni chose to start it at the break in place of Cristian Romero. But after only a few moments, the Marseille defender committed an avoidable mistake which gave the opponent a free kick. Free kick on which Balerdi was far from imperial in defense, unable to prevent Alderete from equalizing.
