Olivier Dall'Oglio is still threatened at Saint-Etienne due to the checkered results of the Saint-Etienne club. The Saint-Etienne board has been following several coaches in recent weeks including Wilfried Nancy.
16th in Ligue 1, AS Saint-Etienne is not achieving the start to the season hoped for by Kilmer Sports for this great return to the elite. The new bosses of ASSE certainly did not expect to play for the first places, especially since it was mainly very young players who joined Forez during the transfer window. But internally, we hoped to move away from the red zone fairly quickly in order to experience a quiet first season in Ligue 1. This is clearly not the case, and it seems certain that Saint-Etienne will play to maintain it until the end …which could cost Olivier Dall'Oglio dearly.
The Saint-Etienne coach seems constantly under threat of dismissal, especially as ASSE leaders are exploring several avenues to replace him. Among them, the one leading to Wilfried Nancy is regularly mentioned. But the Canadian coach of Columbus Crew in MLS obviously has other priorities. His goal is not to change clubs and he officially made this known to the American press despite the disappointing elimination in the first round of the play-offs for one of the best teams of the regular season.
Wilfried Nancy not with the aim of joining ASSE?
“I am very satisfied with what we have achieved and the idea is to start again better. But the most important thing for me is that we learned a lot of things in terms of wanting to improve every day, wanting to challenge my players a little more, wanting to adjust myself, want to give them more rest at certain times instead of pushing them, because we want to push them all the time” launched Wilfried Nancy, whose words are clearly not those of a departing coach. Olivier Dall'Oglio can therefore take a breather, a serious track on the ASSE board is failing. Which does not mean, however, that the ex-Brest coach is comforted, because it will depend above all on the results of the Greens between now and Christmas.
