Zapping Foot National Coupe de France: Calais, Quevilly, El-Biar, … the greatest exploits of the competition
Enough to arrive on slippery terrain. In recent hours, GOAL FC decided to trust Fabien Pujo again following the sidelining of Noël Tosi. If the latter absolutely does not regret his choice, the resident of National 2 received a withdrawal of nine points from the French Football Federation (FFF) in the affair of false medical certificates. A sanction deemed “questionable and very disproportionate in its quantum” by the Rhone club, which immediately referred the matter to the FFF Higher Appeal Commission. For his part, Fabien Pujo seemed… rather excited at the idea of facing this brand new championship.
“The term Remontada takes on its full meaning, what a challenge. Perhaps one of the most incredible challenges since I became a coach” comments the former AS Cannes coach initially. “But for my president, for all these volunteers, for this club, for my family, for the famous sporting fairness mentioned below which should have allowed Goal FC to play a 2nd season in National 1, we all go together with this group maintain us at the end of the season” referring to the case of the Girondins de Bordeaux at the start of the season having prevented GOAL FC from being drafted into the National. As a result, the third French division only contains 17 teams this season, compared to 18 normally.
Last with two points after 10 days
GOAL FC, twelfth in Group A with eleven points initially, now finds itself last with only two points on the clock. Nothing to scare his trainer, who promises a Remontada. “Here we go for a huge Remontada where we are all going together with this group to maintain ourselves at the end of the season, see you on Saturday May 17, 2025 to celebrate our continuation” warns Fabien Pujo. The message has therefore been sent, for a club which will host AS Cannes on Saturday November 23 as part of one of the shocks of the eleventh day of National 2.
