Could Andy Carroll miss the clash against Saint-Malo on November 23?
The English striker was booked with a yellow card on September 17 during the Ligue 2 match between Annecy and Amiens. In addition, with the Girondins, he was warned of a yellow card against Avranches on October 19, and against Saint-Pryvé on November 9 in National 2.
He therefore has a total of 3 yellow cards in a period of 3 months and should be suspended for one match if we combine the yellow cards received in Ligue 2 and National 2.
The appendix to the FFF disciplinary regulations gives the following elements: “The licensee having received 3 warnings during 3 different matches in a period less than or equal to 3 months (the calculation of the limitation period being carried out by taking into account the dates of the matches) is sanctioned with a suspension of one match after decision of the disciplinary body of first instance. This principle applies within the same practice, whatever the level of competition (paragraph 1.3 of the appendix to the FFF disciplinary regulations).”
However, Ligue 2 is managed by the regulations of the LFP. In addition, the yellow card received against Amiens does not appear on Footclub, the official FFF application for clubs.
Furthermore, we have not found any case law corresponding to the situation of Andy Carroll, namely a player who switches from professional to amateur football during the season while retaining the disciplinary sanctions.
Thus, we do not know if his yellow card received in Amiens in L2 is combined with those received with the Girondins de Bordeaux in N2.
Finally, it also remains to be determined when the decision of the disciplinary body will intervene to know his possible suspension match. These gray areas should be cleared up in the coming days.
In the meantime, Andy Carroll should be in the group which will face Le Poirée-sur-Vie this Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in a late match in Group B of National 2.
