The procession of OL supporters before the derby (credit: David Hernandez)
This Saturday, the call for groups of supporters to come together was widely heard. Several thousand supporters were present for the last training session before the derby between OL and ASSE.
There were 2,900 of them in Saint-Étienne on Saturday morning. OL supporters beat the Saint-Etienne total this Saturday late in the afternoon. No less than 3,500 Lyonnais responded to the call from the different groups at Parc OL to give Pierre's group a final boost Sage. The meeting took place at 5 p.m. but the start of hostilities began much earlier on the stadium square in front of entrance A. Smoke bombs, firecrackers, chants, everything went on for many minutes before the whistle to take the path to the training center, about a hundred meters away. If, basically, this should primarily concern the groups, many supporters took advantage of the influx to join the procession and thus access the mound of field number 1 of the GOLTC.
The supporters sent their message
The area reserved for the public was quickly full due to this surplus of people and in the space of five minutes, the training ground was transformed into a molten volcano. Still under the smoke, the players of theOL tried to continue their session as if nothing had happened, a very complicated task. Friday, Alexandre Lacazette admitted to having played a role in the desire to transmit the values of the derby to his teammates. With this final training, the players who still doubted the importance of winning against Saint-Etienne clearly received a message from their supporters. “Two seasons have passed, the tradition has not changed, finish them off”.
