Jonathan David, LOSC's top scorer this season, was selected with Canada to play two CONCACAF Nations League matches during the month of November.
How to do without Jonathan David? Third top scorer in LOSC history, behind Jean Baratte and André Strappe, Jonathan David (24 years old) had a high-flying first part of the season with thirteen goals and two assists to his name in 18 matches played in all competitions. In a certain form, he is logically part of a list of 23 players selected by Jesse Marsch with Canada during this month of November. The Canucks will meet at camp in Fort Lauderdale before heading to Suriname, their next opponent.
As part of the CONCACAF Nations League, Canada faces Suriname on Saturday 16 (12:30 a.m.) and Wednesday 20 November (1:30 a.m.) with the objective of qualifying for the rest of the competition which consists of a small tournament over four days in a direct elimination match. This, which will designate the identity of the big winner, has been scheduled for next March. Far from being brilliant in this Nations League in recent years, Jonathan David & Co are hungry for titles: “We can't wait to bring the group together again with a trophy at stake. We hope that the spirit will be there. We want to finish 2024 in a strong way with two excellent performances against a competitive Suriname team and continue to build on our tremendous growth from last summer”says Jesse Marsch, coach, in words relayed by the Canadian federation.
Unlike the last international windows, Jonathan David will be able to benefit from a few days of recovery following his final game with Suriname. LOSC only hosts Stade Rennais on the following Sunday at the Decathlon Arena – Stade Pierre Mauroy.
