AJ (1-3): The notes of the new disaster at the Vélodrome

Olympique de is still sinking at the Vélodrome (1-3). After a dominated first ten minutes, OM nevertheless conceded Lassine Sinayoko's opener. Two more goals followed from Gaëtan Perrin and Hamed Traoré on further rapid transitions from AJ . 0-3 at the break in total torpor in Marseille.

Mason Greenwood reignited the suspense in the second from the penalty spot without being able to begin the much-hoped-for comeback. Second defeat in a row at home for Marseillais who could go fourth on Sunday if LOSC and AS Monaco win.

Geronimo Rulli cannot do anything about Sinayoko's goal during a very complicated duel to win. On Perrin's second goal, the Argentinian goalkeeper is somewhat naive even if the situation is anything but ideal for him. On the third, the ball passes too easily between his legs. No notable parade to note.

Pol Lirola

Pol Lirola placed himself at the heart of the game as his coach wished. The Spanish full-back rarely had the opportunity to overwhelm except in the first minute. On the second goal, the Marseille defender is far too passive, letting his opponent accelerate. On the third, he was caught in the duel by Traoré like a beginner.

Upon returning from the locker room, Lirola was caught in a cross and took a long time to return. Ahead is complete nothingness.

Leonardo Balerdi

Leonardo Balerdi came out of the first period frustrated, certainly far from being at fault. The Marseille defender certainly loses the ball on the second goal but is clearly not helped by the few calls at his disposal. In his position as the last defender, he knows that he has no right to miss such a gesture.

Balerdi managed better in the second and was notably the author of a nice pass for Wahi harvested in the duel.

Lilian Brassier

Lilian Brassier was eliminated very easily by Gaëtan Perrin in the 3rd minute leading to a non-dangerous shot on target. The Marseille defender was the author of a monumental error in reading the trajectory on a long clearance from the Auxerre goalkeeper. On the second goal, he played offside in an astonishing way.

Brassier still displays as many difficulties with the ball missing simple transmissions. He also took very few risks, much to the dismay of his teammates. A disastrous match on all levels.

Like his friend on the right, Quentin Merlin often took his place at the heart of the game to free up space for Rowe. The French junior international is at fault on the third goal, losing the ball far too low on the pitch. His offensive performance was average but defensively, this high block did not help him stand out.

Ulisses Garcia (5/10) replaced him at half-time. Oddly, the Swiss international seemed much more comfortable in this high block than the basic starter. His crosses did not lead to much unfortunately for OM despite vain attempts.

Adrien Rabiot

Adrien Rabiot was rather on the legs, author of fiery defensive returns and nice openings behind the back. The French international ran a lot, tried everywhere but had no movement in front of him.

Rabiot may have tried too late to attack the area on crosses. He clearly took a counter action in the 73rd minute, preferring to shoot rather than give to Greenwood. We expect more with the ball.

Peter Emil Hojbjerg

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg cut counterattacks, recovered balls and took the game into his own hands. However, the Danish international did not make any notable differences and had a little more waste than usual. His communication and positioning did not help his team get out of this difficult situation.

Luis Henrique Tomaz

Luis Henrique was placed as pure number ten in this meeting. This position requires game vision and a lot of travel. The Brazilian striker took time to be found and was only the author of a few swaying passes.

In second, it is switched back to the left. Ball losses, lack of impactful dribbling and clumsiness can sum up his last 45 minutes.

Mason Greenwood was rarely able to show off in the first half? None of his teammates freed up space for him against a compact low block. His rare attempts were in vain and failed in duels.

Greenwood obtained and converted the penalty on the hour mark. A small difference in an ocean of failures in all areas of the game.

Neal Maupay had a lot to do with making himself available and being found in the zone of truth. It was only as a pivot that he made himself useful to the collective. Without being able to show off, he came out during the break.

Elye Wahi (2/10) replaced him at the break. He had a duel with Leon lost in the 70th minute. It was an opportunity not to be missed and he failed to revive his club.

Jonathan Rowe / MIGUEL MEDINA/GettyImages

Jonathan Rowe had a few balls to shine in the first half, each time he was the author of bad choices. The British striker was not very useful defensively and left Merlin alone often.

Ismaël Koné (4/10) replaced him at the break. The Canadian international had more accuracy in his placements and discounts than Henrique. Nor has he been the author of huge differences in this role.
