In 2007, Barça considered recruiting Eden Hazard while he was playing at LOSC, but Bojan Krkic senior, then the club's recruiter, decided not to follow through. In an interview with 'Què t'hi jugues' on SER Catalunya, Krkic explained his decision, motivated not by a lack of talent, but by doubts about the player's attitude and commitment.
An attitude that did not please
Krkic discovered Hazard during the U17 Euro, where Belgium and Spain competed in the final. Although the player impressed throughout the tournament, his behavior in matches observed later caused reservations. “I went to see him play in Montpellier in August. During the warm-up, the entire Lille team was stretching together, but Hazard was doing the opposite, looking at the stands. He played well, but I didn’t like his attitude,” says Krkic.
Three days later, another match against Angers confirmed his doubts: Hazard, on the bench, was reluctant to warm up properly despite the coach's instructions. “These very talented players often do not produce the expected results. I ruled it out for these reasons, not for its quality,” he said. Ironically in 2019, the great rival, Real Madrid, paid almost 120 million euros to afford Hazard, after a notable spell at Chelsea.
