Two good news and uncertainty before Lille

During this last international break of the year, Rennes players were involved on several fronts, with contrasting performances. Amine Gouiri and Andres Gomez notably shone by each scoring a goal, while Christopher Wooh et Leo Ostigard played the entirety of both matches for their respective selections. On the other hand, Alidu Seidu only played one game, announced injured for the second.

Gouiri and Gomez on fire

Amine Gouiri scored a goal and provided an assist in Algeria's 5-1 victory over Liberia in the CAN qualifiers. The Rennes striker thus confirmed his sparkling form in the Fennecs jersey. For his part, Andrew Gomez also found the net, scoring Colombia's second goal in the 3-2 defeat to Uruguay in the race for the 2026 World Cup. Despite this setback, Gomez's goal demonstrates his importance to Colombia and its possible emergence under the Rennes tunic in the weeks to come.

Wooh and solid Ostigard

Christopher Wooh et Leo Ostigard also produced encouraging performances with their respective selections. The Cameroonian defender played all of the two CAN qualifying matches, including the 0-0 draw against Namibia. As for the Norwegian rock Ostigard, he made two full starts during the big 4-1 successes against Slovenia and 5-0 against Kazakhstan in the Nations League.

The Seidu case worries

The only downside for Stade Rennais, Alidu Seidu played only one match with Ghana during this break. Starting in the 1-1 draw in Angola, the central defender was then announced injured for the 2-1 defeat against Niger, specifies an official press release. An absence which raises questions about his state of form, a few days before the resumption of Ligue 1 and a perilous trip to the LOSC pitch.
