Real Madrid are set to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting due to Kylian Mbappé's poor form, according to former midfielder Jamie O'Hara.
Gyokeres is the talk of the town this season as the Sporting striker has enjoyed a fast start to the season with Ruben Amorim's side. The Swede has scored 23 goals in just 15 matches in all competitions, including a hat-trick against Manchester City earlier this week in Sporting's 4-1 victory over the Premier League juggernaut. Meanwhile, in Spain, Mbappé, recruited by the Real Madrid Galacticos, is struggling to be number 9 in Carlo Ancelotti's squad. O'Hara suggested that Real Madrid should look to sign Gyokeres to unlock the underperforming squad.
Speaking to Grosvenor Sport, O'Hara said: “Any club in the world would take Viktor Gyokeres right now. He could end up at Real Madrid – they really need a centre-forward at the moment. They signed Kylian Mbappé from PSG and he is not doing the job for them up front. They have slowed down a lot this season.

“I think Gyokeres plays like Erling Haaland. He is strong, physical, athletic and knows where the net is. He's not afraid to take on defenders 1v1 – I really like him. He could go anywhere in Europe with the goals he's scoring at the moment.
Gyokeres has been linked with a move away from Sporting in January with a number of Premier League sides linked with the former Brighton and Coventry City. Manchester United are one such club as Amorim is set to take over at the underperforming Red Devils later this month.
Speaking about United, O'Hara said: “You look at Ruben Amorim going to Manchester United and you wonder whether they could sign him or not, but they have Rasmus Højlund up front. Højlund needs to improve though, otherwise they might look to bring him in too! He'll be on everyone's radar, though. I can't believe Brighton got rid of him for a million pounds – everyone says they did it right in recruitment, but they got this one wrong! He’s a top-class player – well done to this young man. »
Los Blancos are unlikely to consider signing Gyokeres as they will want to see Mbappé succeed at Santiago Bernabeu rather than spending money mindlessly. However, if their struggles continue, they could look to make a change to their team in the future.
