Taken out on a stretcher against just a few minutes after coming into play, Derek Cornelius will miss the AJ reception this Friday in Ligue 1. The Canadian defender is seriously affected.

An important player in the rotation of defenders in the eyes of Roberto De Zerbi since the start of the season, Derek Cornelius will be out of the AJA reception this Friday at the Vélodrome. Replacing against Nantes on Sunday evening, the Canadian international from OM came on as a substitute but did not last long on the pitch at La Beaujoire. Quickly affected, he was taken out on a stretcher and gave his place to Valentin Rongier, but we did not know what the former Malmo player was suffering from.

Chest trauma for Cornelius

Karim Attab told us more about this and according to the journalist from MaritimaDerek Cornelius suffers from chest trauma. A fairly serious injury which will require the 26-year-old defender to take several days of rest. The international break comes at just the right time for Cornelius, who will not join Canada and who could be operational for -OM on November 23, although the progress of his injury will need to be monitored.
