PSG is one of the country's major contributors to public finances.
In collaboration with the Center for Sports Law and Economics (CDES), PSG published this week a study demonstrating its involvement in the social sphere of Ile-de-France. An analysis entitled “Economic impact and social utility of Paris Saint-Germain” covering the 2023-2024 season.
Already in 2021, the capital club carried out a similar study based on the 2018-2019 financial year. The economic impact of PSG on the Île de France was then estimated at 182 million euros – it would now be 243 million euros – an increase of 25% reflecting the growing influence of the red and blue institution on its immediate environment.
2,379 jobs in Île de France
Very concretely, PSG is also a significant employer in the region, with 2,379 full-time equivalents. That is 746 employees directly attached to the club, 291 indirect jobs and 1,342 induced jobs – such as service providers involved in matches and various events.
The contribution to public finances of the rest is spectacular. In 2023-2024, PSG paid some 371 million euros in taxes, social and employer contributions. That's a jump of 44% compared to the study carried out five years earlier. Worthy of a large company, this overall contribution is equivalent to 7.4% of the region's budget; the CDES specifying that the Parisian club, since 2011 and the arrival of the Qataris, has contributed to public finances to the tune of 3 billion euros.
