Martin Mosnier (Eurosport) :We are obviously satisfied. We understood that this season, we would not dominate anyone. We clearly understood that Saint-Étienne was going to suffer from start to finish – at least until the winter transfer window. I would say that this match is probably the one where the Greens conceded the fewest chances, which is already an improvement on their main weakness since the start of the season. That is to say, for me, they remain perhaps the worst defensive team in Europe. Defensively, it's a disaster: with each opposing intrusion, we tremble. But there, without talking about serenity – that would be premature – I felt a little more solidity, which is encouraging, although still worrying.

Ahead, it is not yet the Brazil of 70, we are still very, very far from it. Despite everything, we saw a few flashes of play here and there, and the result remains logical. Against , it was still a stroke of luck because Lille had dominated and we had escaped by a miracle. Against , they lost their central defender in the warm-up, and despite that, Saint-Étienne conceded a lot of chances – but Davitashvili was on fire. This time, I have the impression that there was a slightly more accomplished collective performance. Again, it's not Byzantium, but I don't think I've seen anything better this year.”

The Bouchouari – Sheep promise

Martin Mosnier (Eurosport) : “I really liked the ASSE midfield against Lille with Amougou, Moueffek and Ekwah, even if this trio seemed a little lost. I admit that I was pleasantly surprised by Bouchouari, that I didn't like. expected more at this level, quite honestly He was hardly used at the start of the season, and we had the impression that he was a little lost in Ligue 2, while Saint-Étienne was progressing without him. I had doubts about his ability to be decisive, or even just impactful and effective in the game. I also had reservations about his ability to press and impose himself physically, but he pleasantly surprised me, and I I'm wrong, so much the better.

As for Mouton, every time he comes into play, I sense something promising in this youngster. It's still far too early to draw conclusions, but it has gained consistency. He had an excellent match, and he deserved his place in the starting eleven. That said, we can see that in this environment, something is still missing: an essential player, with depth, whether physical or in terms of experience. This is one of the Greens' problems, because the defense is not sufficiently protected. These four, at the moment, are not quite ready to be indisputable starters, and so there will be some turnover. But from what we saw this weekend, Mouton and Bouchouari showed promise. However, these remain simple promises for now; It’s still way too early to get excited.”
