The hammer blow

The hammer blow
The Strasbourg hammer blow

In a controlled first half, the Greens were solid defensively and managed to create chances, without however succeeding in making it happen. From the first quarter of an hour, on a creative left side, Cindy Caputo and Chloé Tapia combine, allowing our left side to cross. Unfortunately, a player tackles the ball at a corner. Shortly after, following a breakthrough from Sarah Stratigakis, Cindy Caputo, found full axis, tried her luck from 25 meters, but her shot narrowly went over the bar. Despite several opportunities, it was Strasbourg who opened the scoring at the end of the first period (RCSA 1-0 ASSE, 40e). In a first period where the ball is shared, it is the Strasbourg women who return to the locker room with a goal in advance.

At the start of the second half, defensive adjustments were made on the Strasbourg side, forcing the Stéphanoises to reveal themselves more. After a few offensive attempts led by Sarah Stratigakis and Fiona Bogi, Strasbourg hit the nail on the head by scoring a second goal. In a very contentious action where Easther Mayi Kith suffered a foul from the Strasbourg striker, the referee did not flinch, and the Blues went for goal. Despite a first save from Maryne Gignoux, Hannequin just had to push the ball into the back of the net (RCSA 2-0 ASSE, 60e).

If the Greens delivered a performance full of conviction, success was not there for them. After a series of victories at the start of the season, the Greens now have 3 victories and 3 defeats in 6 days. We will have to take very important points next week against Fleury, at home.
