The former coach of Hérault Sport Club, Michel Der Zakarian, is in the process of joining Espérance Sportive de Tunis (EST). Barely a week after his departure from Montpellier, negotiations with the Tunisian club have reached an advanced stage. This change of coach follows the dismissal of Miguel Cardoso, and the club management is looking for a technician capable of turning things around after a difficult start to the season.

Lhe discussions between EST President Hamdi Meddeb and Der Zakarian seem promising. However, the coach takes the time to think about the offer made to him, both financially and on the sporting ambitions of the club, which is qualified for the group stage of the Champions League and will participate in the Coupe du club world in 2025. The pressure is on, as the transition phase under Skander Kasri must end quickly, with a crucial match against ES Sahel to come.

A particularly interesting aspect of this potential transfer is the possibility of finding Youcef Belailia player that Der Zakarian led during the second part of the 2021/2022 season at Stade Brestois. Although he recognized Belaili's undeniable technical qualities, Der Zakarian did not hesitate to express reservations about the behavior of the player and those around him. Indeed, the coach had affirmed that the difficulties encountered by the Algerian winger in were partly due to the influence of those close to him.

“Belaïli forgot something on the way. He's a nice boy. It's more his entourage, people, pseudo-friends or cousins who do anything. He can't say no to them.”he declared.

Today, more than two years later, Belaili is close to finding his former coach, and the latter could offer a new dynamic. The two men, although marked by a tumultuous past, could benefit from a second chance. Der Zakarian could not only attempt to turn around Belaili's career, but also create a competitive team capable of competing on the continental stage.
