Having become major elements of the AS Monaco squad, and in very good shape since the start of the season, the two nuggets trained at the Academy spoke at length as part of a cross-interview for the sports daily.
They are one of the reasons for the Red and White's (very) good start to the year. Accomplices on the field, as well as off it, Maghnes Akliouche and Eliesse Ben Seghir, both formed within La Diagonale, lent themselves to the exercise of the cross-interview. In the edition of the newspaper L'Équipe dated this Wednesday, the two young talents spoke about their backgrounds, their profiles and even their temperaments.
In the way he plays, he is more mature than me. I have a neighborhood football style, I like to take the ball and eliminate.
Eliesse Ben SeghirAbout Maghnes Akliouche
Two different profiles… but complementary
“His madness is his strong point. He is capable of eliminating, shooting from afar. He has a nice range. He can make a difference at any time,” explains Maghnes about his “little brother”. The mirror exercise in which Eliesse also participated: “In the way he plays, he is more mature than me. I have a neighborhood football style, I like to take the ball and eliminate. He knows how to see the game, he analyzes situations well. This is where I still need to improve. »
Monegasque training, an ideal setting
A lucidity and perspective on their performances, which certainly comes from their training at the Academy, which they still praise today. “Our advantage? It's having an incredible living environment, with good people who pay attention to how we are, how we are evolving. A coach like Frédéric Barilaro is a training monster,” remarks the French hopeful international.
Young people are starting the professional world earlier and earlier, so the pressure evaporates quickly. By seeing other young people play, we say to ourselves: why not me?
Maghnes AklioucheAbout the younger generation
A carefree attitude that serves at the highest level
“The Principality also makes the difference. It's very secure, so it allows strict supervision and avoids the distractions that can be around football. We can no longer concentrate on our performances,” adds his young partner. The strength of this generation? Certainly his ability not to be afraid. And to learn from the greatest, as Maghnes explains very well.
High-flying inspirations
“The one that left the biggest impression on me? Cesc Fabregás. He played while walking, he saw everything and, with two touches, he put it where he wanted. I watched him a lot. It was really beautiful to experience. He often told me to play simple, that you have to be free in your head, not put unnecessary pressure on yourself,” perfectly describes the Olympic vice-champion with the Bleuets.
And an ambition that reflects the image of the Club
In this interview, it is necessarily also a question of current affairs, and of the successful start of the season for the Rouge et Blanc. A start that encourages Eliesse Ben Seghir to be optimistic, with the enthusiasm we know from him: “When we play the football we know how to do and we apply the coach's instructions, we are a formidable team! »
