Scorer against OL in the draw obtained by AJA (2-2) on Sunday, Sinaly Diomandé, former Gone, received congratulations from several Lyon players in the comments of his Instagram post. The Rhone supporters did not appreciate these little messages sent by friends of the player. One of them, Gift Orban, even apologized immediately.
OL conceded a draw at home against AJA on Sunday afternoon, despite a double from Georges Mikautadze (2-2). The Lyonnais notably conceded a goal from Sinaly Diomandé, who joined the club between 2020 and 2024. Today in Auxerre, the Ivorian defender posted a photo on Instagram after the match to celebrate his goal, his second of the season. In the comments, he was congratulated by his former teammates at Lyon, Dejan Lovren, Karl Toko Ekambi, Tino Kadewere, Habib Keita and Gift Orban. The comment posted by the Nigerian striker (“Top” accompanied by flames), who still plays in Lyon, did not please Lyon supporters. In the stands for the match, Orban felt obliged to apologize, which he did in an Instagram story.
“I'm sorry”
“Excuse me OL fans, it was by mistake that I made this comment. It's just to encourage my friend. I didn't even see that this is the photo of our match. […] We work hard to win matches and trophies. For OL, I'm sorry. THANKS.”
Not selected by Pierre Sage for this reception from Auxerre, Gift Orban has only played three Ligue 1 matches since the start of the season, including two as a starter. In the Europa League, he played 11 minutes against Besiktas. The Nigerian is struggling to establish himself in the Lyon 11. Not sure that this episode will increase his popularity among Lyon supporters.
