Portugal coach boycotts João Neves

This Tuesday evening, Portugal ended its October international break with a sad draw against Scotland (0-0)three days after securing a 3-1 victory in Poland. And if Roberto Martinez, the coach of the Seleção, made no less than six changes in his starting line-up between the two matches, João Neves did not start any. Worse still, the young midfielder has not played even a single minute this month.

Among the 23 outfield players, there are only two who did not take part in these two meetings: Samuel Costa, who was called up for the first time, and therefore the Parisian. A decision to say the least surprising when we know to what extent the Spanish technician takes pleasure in shouting from the rooftops that he is totally in love with João Neves’ football. As a reminder, this season, the former SL Benfica player participated in nine matches with PSG (including seven as a starter), provided five assists, and is considered one of the fittest players in the league.
