Jimmy Bourlieux: “If we hadn’t made efforts, in the coming weeks, I sincerely think that the FCGB would have already gone out of business”

On Radio Mérignac, the head of the National Rally of , Jimmy Bourlieuxspoke about the decision of the Metropolis to postpone stadium rents concerning the Girondins de .

“Like everyone, in the case of the Girondins, I was quite upset this summer, even if I do not forget that if they got to this point it is because there was a whole series of bad choices that were made by the current management and which, I hope, will not be made for much longer. But obviously, the FCGB, because it is an important economic player in the region, because it is also an element of the department’s attractiveness and brand, we must as politicians support this great Bordeaux institution. What the Metropolis did in this regard, I think it was what should be done. Indeed, if we had not made efforts on the issue of rent at Matmut, in the coming weeks, I very sincerely think that the FCGB would have already gone out of business. The idea is obviously that we, the public authorities, can give a little breath of fresh air to the FCGB’s treasury, to enable it to continue to survive in the months to come. However, we must remember that the Metropolis cannot do everything. The Metropolis alone will not be able to save the FCGB’s cash flow. So, yes, we can make a temporary effort. It is with the taxpayer’s money and we will have to be careful because with the tax increases in the coming months, the taxpayer could say to themselves that these increases are to save the Girondins of Bordeaux… And therefore, that will not hold in the long term. The Girondins themselves will have to get rid of their main burden, who is called Gérard Lopez”
