On Inter, the Sud Ouest journalist Vincent Romainspoke about the departure of Gustavo Poyet of the Girondins de , revealing that there was an amicable agreement with the Americans who took over the club a few weeks later.

“It’s a larger sum than expense reports in a five-star hotel, or starred restaurants… It’s right in the summer of 2018 when there is a form of transition between M6 and the new American owners. It was the new American owners who suggested the name of Gustavo Poyet to take charge of the team a few months earlier. M6 had accepted because they knew they were going to sell the club to the Americans. Except that things went very badly the following summer. M6 wants to fire him for serious misconduct, the American owners grimace a little but are forced to accept. However, behind the back of M6 and everyone else, they sign a memorandum of understanding where they say that from the moment they own the club, Gustavo Poyet will receive 1.3 million euros, while the dismissal for gross negligence was frankly characterized. And what’s more, they’re hiring him as a marketing and communications consultant at €25,000 per month, while we’re talking about a football coach.”
