While he joined a few weeks ago, Andy Carroll spoke about the reasons which pushed him to join .

A nice surprise. That’s probably what Bordeaux fans said when they learned that Andy Carroll was joining their club. In an interview given to our colleagues from RMC Sport the English striker spoke about the reasons which led him to choose the Bordeaux project despite the difficulties that the club is experiencing. The 35-year-old was very honest about the fact that his arrival in Bordeaux did not bring him anything financially while his salary is estimated at 3,500 euros: “To be honest, it even cost me money to go play for the Girondins. But I play football and I’m just happy to play football. I want to be part of the history of this club and to be honest it’s not a question of money.” he confided.

The former Liverpool player opened up about the simple pleasure he gets from playing football: “You know, I just love football and it was an opportunity to play for a big French club. Ultimately it doesn’t matter what level you play at. I love playing football and that’s what I came here to do.” The English player wishes “fight as best as possible to bring this club back up. We’re going to try to put it back where it should be.” he admitted. Bordeaux’s next match will be a trip to on October 5.
