Legia is reliable, responsible, reasonable and… victorious! This is the team we watched today at Łazienkowska Street and it was quite a pleasant experience. An equally nice obligation is to give Goncalo Feio’s students a note (on a scale of 1-10). Today, the “Military” functioned very well as an organism in which everyone fulfilled their role. No one was too far behind, but a few players deserve special mention, including: Steve Kapaudi, Ruben Vinagre and Maxi Oyedele.

Kacper Tobiasz (6)

A clean sheet says a lot, but not everything. If someone didn’t watch the match, they might think that Tobiasz had to double and triple today. None of these things. It was enough that he did his job. He probably caught what he needed to catch and positioned himself well, thanks to which he easily saved Pablo Fornals’ shot from a few meters. It was one of three successful shots by Betis players.

Paweł Wszołek (6)

It is clear that he is still learning how to play in his new role, i.e. as a typical right defender. Several times he jumped into action, which he was accustomed to as a shuttleman. Among other things, around the 20th minute, when he easily overtook Mendy and won a corner kick, which resulted in a goal. He usually kept up from the back, even when Abde Ezzalzouli appeared on the pitch. Wszołek had a difficult time with the Moroccan, but in the end he endured.

Radovan Pankov (7)

The fact that Kacper Tobiasz did not have too much work today is a huge credit to Legia’s defenders – including, of course, Pankov. The Serb started the match well. His confident interventions from the first minutes positively motivated his teammates from the defense line. When Wszołek lacked strength at the very end, Pankov – together with Artur Jędrzejczyk – perfectly secured the right side. Really solid performance.

Steve Kapaudi (8)

Pankov was very good today, but Kapaudi was even better. A reliable defensive and offensive point, he did the job for Tomas Pekhart. During the goal kick, he kept an eye on the line, didn’t burn it and jumped perfectly to the “cookie” sent by Ruben Vinagre. Moreover, it was not only during set pieces that he was able to sense the moment when it would be worth moving into the opponent’s penalty area. Boss.

Ruben Vinagre (7)

From the very beginning it was clear that he was in great shape. He drove the Legionnaires’ actions and had freedom, the quintessence of which was playing blindly with his heel to Bartosz Kapustka, who was running into the penalty area. And, of course, the foot was set perfectly, as he proved with the throw-in that resulted in a goal. Kapuadi just brushed the ball straight towards the goal.

Kacper Chodyna (5)

Generally, Legia’s right side functioned better today than the left. Much of this is due to the successful cooperation of the trio: Chodyna, Kapustka, Wszołek. The former Zagłębie Lubin player was the weakest of the three. He was involved in a combination game, but he lacked precision – for example at the beginning of the second half, when he received a great pass behind the defense line and had a lot of time to play into the penalty area, but he completely missed the insertion. Often stopped by the three-meter Mendy. He was also a bit lacking defensively. Several times he had to listen to the complaints of Wszołek, who worked hard for two people.

Maxi Oyedele (7)

At times today he was as powerful as a bull in the pre-match crowd of Legia fans. Very focused, calm and confident. He didn’t panic. Even if he made a mistake, he quickly corrected it. He made several key tackles, after which – what was particularly impressive – he looked for accurate ball delivery. Mostly forward, not necessarily the easiest way. He looked more like a 29-year-old with Premier League experience than a 19-year-old from the youth teams.

Bartosz Kapustka (7)

Very active from the very beginning. He was looking for a game and impressed with his calmness and accuracy. He took part in a short corner kick, after which a goal was scored, and earlier he sent a great ball to Wszołek, thanks to which there was a corner at all. He worked not only at the front. He recorded several important interceptions. He was just everywhere.

Luquinhas (4)

It wasn’t his day. He ran a lot, changed positions (which is generally typical of Legionnaires today), gave signals to press, but at the same time lost duels and often lost the ball. He lacked accuracy and flash today. One of the first to download, as Feio noticed.

Ryoya Morishita (4)

He tried to look for a game, but when he found it, it was chaos. He was nonchalant. In the first half he had a lot of turnovers and made simple mistakes. He played with his hand when the ball unexpectedly hit him in the penalty area. He also missed a good pass from Jean-Pierre Nsame. If he had put the ball into the net, the game would have been over. However, it is worth adding that the closer to the end, the better it was.

Thomas Pekhart (4)

He moved back a lot and tried to receive the ball near the center circle, which is worth appreciating. His tasks also included collecting balls from Tobiasz after long plays. He won duels, but he often fouled or passed inaccurately. He didn’t stand a chance to score a goal. He was the first player replaced (along with Luquinhas).

Rafał Augustyniak (6)

He replaced Luquinhas, but entered the pitch with defensive tasks. That doesn’t mean he didn’t go crazy on the front end. In the 82nd minute, he tricked Marc Roca like he was seven-year-old Mareczek and made a very good shot. The guests were very lucky (ricochet) and Adrian was in goal, who, thanks to his excellent reflexes, hit the ball behind the end line.

Jean-Pierre Nsame (5)

Goncalo Feio granted forgiveness and reinstated the Cameroonian to the national team. A moment after entering the pitch, the striker launched a counterattack against Oyedele. He received a pass from the 19-year-old and played quite well to Morishita running into the long post, but he did not take advantage of this opportunity. He also had a chance to score a goal, but this time he missed the pass from the Japanese.
