The Senegal team will host Burkina Faso this Friday evening (7 p.m.) in Dakar, as part of the first day of the CAN 2025 qualifiers. The stakes of this match are multiple.

Like several other disappointments of the last CAN 2023, Senegal wants to wipe its slate clean during the next edition scheduled for Morocco. Expected at the turning point by the supporters, the Lions would be well inspired to start these qualifiers with a success that would place them at the top of Group L along with Burundi, who beat Malawi (2-3) on Thursday.

Lions to confirm against vengeful Stallions

In this respect, Aliou Cissé’s gang must impose itself against the Stallions of Burkina Faso, also seeking revenge after the failure in Ivory Coast (exited in the round of 16). Without their star striker Bertrand Traoré, once again left out, Dango Ouattara and company will have a lot to do with the Lions regaining their strength.

Indeed, the 2021 African champions have not lost since the premature exit at the CAN. For their part, the Burkinabe are stuck in a bad dynamic with zero victories in their last six outings. And this, without being able to keep their clean sheets. Far from being reassuring, knowing that during their last confrontation in February 2022 at the CAN 2021, it was the future champions who won 1-3.

Probable eleven of the Senegal Lions

Mendy-Niakhate, Koulibaly, Abdoulaye Seck-Diarra, Lamine Camara, Gana Gueye, Jakobs-Ismaila Sarr, Sadio Mane, Nicolas Jackson
