(TSX: VCM) today announced the successful deployment of its MediaScale™ Content Distribution solution at NOS, Portugal’s largest communications and entertainment group. In 2016, Vecima and NOS embarked on a multi-year project to transform the video entertainment experience for viewers in Portugal.
NOS has deployed Vecima’s MediaScale Storage solution through Satcab, Vecima’s reseller in Portugal. This will allow it to expand its capabilities while serving a diverse ecosystem of client devices, including IP set-top boxes, smartphones, tablets and other streaming devices.
NOS has deployed a multi-tiered storage platform that optimizes video delivery while controlling costs. With Common Media Application Format (CMAF) compliant storage, MediaScale allows for a single storage for content, which can then be used for ABR and QAM delivery, without duplicating content for different delivery protocols. In addition, Just-in-Time Packaging (JITP) allows streaming in Apple HLS and MPEG-DASH ABR formats, further optimizing storage capacity while again avoiding duplication of content storage.
